Going On When You Don't Feel Like It

I really messed up with a friend of mine and I felt a huge heaviness.  This is what I read out of my daily devotional and I began to feel a little better.

Going on When You Don't Feel Like It

The most difficult part of the Christian experience is when the sky seems to fall and your world come apart.  No, you don't deserve it.  No, you're not being punished.  God hasn't closed the door on you and shut off the phone service, and He hasn't selected you to see whether you can withstand the same testing that Job endured.  Nevertheless, when you are hurting----from the loss of a baby, the loss of a job, a serious illness, or some other cause of pain and sorrow----it's easy to feel alone and estranged from God.
At times like these, regardless of how you feel, regardless of your emotions or what your body tells you, refuse to believe what you know is untrue and hold on to the assurance that God is still in control.
It's okay to tell Him that you don't understand, but don't measure God's goodness or faithfulness by the bad things that happen to you or the good things that happen to others. Instead,  focus on the promises of God, which cannot change.  Did God ever promise that you would always understand?  Would you really want to worship a God who was so small that you understood His every thought and action?
Peter tells us to cast all our anxiety on Him because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7).  David says if we throw our burdens on the Lord, He will sustain us (Psalm 55:22)
Sometimes, just getting up in the morning, pointing your feet in the right direction and giving yourself a "kick start" isn't very glamorous, but it's what God requires.  Getting the kids off to school, downloading Email, dealing with an impatient customer, taking one day at a time-----sometimes one hour or one task at a time-----is what God wants you to do.
Trusting God for today is what He asks.  And when we get to the dawn of a new day, God will again be there to meet us and lead us, even though circumstances may obscure the warmth of His presence or make us forget He's still in charge.  Some things have to be taken by faith.  It's the only way.
