Just like the story in the Bible when God sent Ravens to feed Elijah, (1Kings 17:4-7) God has sent 'ravens' in the form of good friends for the last few weekends to meet a few needs that I had.
I have been behind in my rent for a couple months due to car repairs and I was busted, but I was able to put gas in my car to get back and forth to work and put in a small seed in church. One weekend, the maintenance man in my building needed a ride to a flea market to find some tools because his work van was stolen and all his tools and his business cards were in there. It ended up being a very pleasant day and he treated me with lunch at Boston Market. Thank you Jesus, because I was able to help a friend in need!

The next weekend, my friend who's an over the road truck driver came by and we went apartment hunting for an apartment when he's home. We had a fabulous lunch at The Boneyard, a barbeque restaurant in a suburb outside the city. The helpings were huge. For the appetizer we had a stack of fried onion rings which were so delicious we had to control ourselves before we received our entrees. We each ordered rib combos. I ordered the jumbo shrimp and ribs combo with a baked potato and he ordered the chicken and ribs combo with fries. Everything was wonderful along with the pleasant company I enjoyed. It was good seeing him for a change rather than talking over a staticky cell phone. After he paid for lunch he handed me $50!! Thank you Jesus!! This may be a small sum for some people, but for me, it was a tremendous help. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalms 46:1. This is a two-fold blessing because my friend will reap what he sows. Gal. 6:7
Just this past weekend, another awesome friend of mine came by and spent his whole day off putting plastic on my drafty windows in my apartment in preparation for the winter. He provided all the materials and labor and I made us breakfast. He added weather proof strips to the inside of the door frame of my balcony door to ensure that I can be warm and cozy, and then he turned around and gave me $30!! Thank you Jesus, I am truly grateful!!
