Ma/Grandma
Celebrating the
Life of Sweet Lynda Jamesetta Horton
Her LIFE / Her LEGACY
God brought Lynda
Jamesetta White in this world to the union of the late James and Nora White on
May 29, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan as a triplet, but unfortunately her sisters
died at birth. She was a bright student
of Northwestern High School and graduated in the summer of 1957. At 18, she married, John Albert Pointzes a
handsome U.S. Army soldier , and from that union bore two daughters who she
loved and nurtured. Later, Lynda
confessed Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior and joined New St. Paul
Tabernacle COGIC under the leadership of Bishop P. A. Brooks. She worked as a letter carrier for the U.S.
Post Office until she retired. Lynda
enjoyed life to the fullest, traveling to exotic places with white sandy
beaches like the Bahamas. She loved
family gatherings and helping others. She enjoyed reading, playing music such as the
Temptations, Isaac Hayes, and The Spinners.
Additionally, when VHS, cable and surround sound came on the scene she
learned about electronics and she and her favorite cousin Carlotta Grant (deceased)
dubbed their favorite movies on VHS tapes.
She felt that a movie wasn’t a movie without listening to them through
the surround sound speakers. Lynda was
multi-talented in the areas of sewing, cooking and baking. She made her daughters clothes from toddlers
until middle school; she made curtains, coats, embroidered designs on denim clothes,
and latch hooked rugs. She could also
burn in the kitchen. Meals like fried
fish, fried chicken, roast, greens, mashed potatoes and gravy, made you ask for
seconds. She loved it when a request was
made for one of her homemade chocolate sour cream pound cakes or cherry cheese
cakes. Lynda also loved animals especially dogs. It was nothing for her to take a trip to
Canada and bring back a Bouvier. Being a
three-time cancer survivor, without chemo or radiation therapy, she had a laid
back conservative style, comfortable in her night gown, crocks, with her hair
in braids, watching t.v, she loved Steve Harvey on Family Feud, drinking tea
and doing her find-a-word puzzles until she departed this life peacefully in her sleep on Monday, November 18, 2013 ...
Reflections ….
Grandma
Thank you for the gift of love,
now you're sharing it up above.
You had many things to say
All in a caring way.
You always saw good in everyone
No matter what they've done.
You were always the one we could all lean on
Even though it must have felt like a ton.
You were always the strength of the family
Now we must let you rest calmly.
As we say goodbye,
as tears roll down our eyes,
I know your place in heaven has a good view.
Because you're telling God,
I need to keep an eye on a few.
I know you will always be in our hearts and mind.
So Grandma,
I must go, but I'll never forget you're one of a kind.
~Jeremi
Mama,
This is not goodbye but simply, "see you later." Mama, thank you for the agape love you've shown me, if nothing else I could always depend on your love which has carried me through every trial and tribulation I've had to face. Mama, please take my love with you in return. P.S. Hug and kiss TiJuan for me, Love you, Mama.
~Noralynn
In
love and memory of my lil lady,
I will
never forget those late night snacks, me cooking you eggs with extra cheese, I
can hear you now with your high pitched voice calling us to heat your tea up
even though we might forget it’s in the microwave and it may flood the
microwave but we made sure you were okay. I’m going to miss coming in your room
watching CSI and Without a Trace with you while you gave me words of wisdom, I
won’t forget you speeding around the corner with your lil tea cup on your way
to the kitchen. Remember you use to let me see your crossword puzzle books and
we use to do crossword puzzles. It’s so
much I want to say and words can’t explain how much I miss you, how I feel and
how much you mean to me but I can say
that I appreciate you and you always been a sweet heart since I’ve known you .
You accepted me with open arms like family , I remember you cried to me and
hugged me because you didn’t want me to
move out and you told me no matter what me and Emanuel Sr. go through that that
was home no matter what . I’m going to miss you sassying me lol. I love You My Lil Miss Lady.
~Kourtney
Ma, “Lil Ole Lady”
I miss you soooo
much. Until you got too sick, we were
buddies, we would hang and go to the movies, and do lunch, we could talk about
anything and you wouldn’t judge me. You
were the kindest, sweetest, most generous person I know. There was nothing you wouldn’t do for your
family, and all we had to do was ask and if it was in your power to do it, you
would take care of it. A mother’s love
such as yours will never die but will live on in each of us. Sweetie, enjoy your new life until we meet
again. I love love you.

Grandma,
Words cannot
describe how much you mean to me. When I
think of loyalty, forgiveness, wisdom and unconditional love, I think of
you. I’m appreciative of all the life
lessons, advice, and wisdom you gave me that made me who I am today. I love you and you will be with me always.
~Chivon
